Charter Communications began in 1993 as a small cable company. Today, they are
the third-largest broadband communications firm in the United States with more
than 6.6 million customers in 40 states. In little more than a decade, Charter
has expanded its available services to include digital cable, telephone service,
and high speed Internet access. In addition, Charter also offers more advanced
services, such as Video-on-Demand, interactive television, Voice over Internet
Protocol (VoIP) technology, and high definition Television.
Charter continues to refine its service offerings and to make available to
consumers the latest technology in order to remain competitive in the
industry. By staying ahead of the times and giving subscribers what they
want, Charter has managed to build its subscriber base even against stiff
competition like AOL Time Warner, Direct TV, and Rupert Murdoch's News Corp.
Charter services 38 of the 50 states in the United States including
California, Texas, and New York.
